Wohnmaschine was founded in the private apartment of Friedrich Loock in Berlin-Mitte in 1988. In 1998 Wohnmaschine moved across the street to its current location on Tucholskystrasse 35. Wohnmaschine has formed a program of emerging and mid-career artists with an international focus on the Japanese scene. Friedrich Loock is one of the co-founders of the VOLTAshow in Basel.
