Phoebe Washburn: Nothing's Cutie, 2004. Mixed media installation. Dimensions variable. Installation shot at LFL Gallery.

Phoebe Washburn creates monumental installations while addressing ideas of environmental sustainability and notions of recycling, trash, and landscape. For her last solo exhibition at Zach Feuer Gallery (LFL), Washburn took painted strips of woods in varying lengths and widths and attached them upright side by side. The effect was a wave of wooden fibers paralleled with candid material - a pencil here, a roll of duct-tape there - forming a unique site-specific structure. Past exhibitions include PS1, New York, The Bronx Museum, New York, Rice University Art Gallery, Texas, Faulconer Gallery, Iowa, and Kunsthalle St Gallen, Switzerland.
