ISAAC MONTOYA - Represented by: Espacio Minimo
Isaac Montoya (Burgos, Spain 1963) graduated in Fine Arts at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He recently exhibited an individual project at La Casa Encendida in Madrid, and in 2003 did so at the Fundación Pilar i Joan Miró in Palma de Mallorca. He has shown in ARCO and other important international fairs of contemporary art such as FRIEZE ART FAIR in London, or ARTISSIMA in Turin.
Isaac Montoya has created series of large scale photographic works that have two readings. On one hand, the first look gazes at a glamorous image of stereotyped happiness that we can find on full page advertisements of fashion and contemporary culture magazines. A second look through a visor placed before the images tells us of a different, truer, and more horrible reality that has nothing to do with the first, as if in one clean sweep the make-up and artifice with which a great part of contemporary society camouflages life was neutralized. |
