Miguel Ángel Gaüeca (Bilbao, Spain 1967) graduated in Fine Arts at the Universidad del País Vasco. He has taken part in, amongst others, the exhibition titled “Transexual Express” curated by Xabier Arakistain in BILBAO Arte, and co curated by Rosa Martinez in it editions in Barcelona and Budapest and his work is represented in the collections of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, ARTIUM in Vitoria, the Instituto de la Juventud de Madrid, The Diputacion Foral de Vizcaya, amongst others.

With the photographs and bronzes to be shown in VOLTAshow 01, Miguel Angel Gaüeca continues work on his personal corpus in which, making use of false advertisements that star himself in the main role, he consolidates his own understanding about the traps that consumerist society submits us to and, above all else, his personal reflection on identity. This work proposes a reflection on the art world, taking the figure of the artist as the starting point.
