IAN BURNS - Represented by: Spencer Brownstone
Education: Master of Fine Arts, Hunter College of CUNY, New York, New York, USA
Ian Burns’ devices require some imagination to come to grips with both the physical ‘laws’ governing their function and the development of any moral to the story. The place where the unpresentable is made tangible is inexorably linked to the imagination. His work reexamines Burke’s romantic sublime against Lyotard’s sublime of disappointment and nostalgia. It is metaphoric for our contemporary relationship to the unpresentable in art through the apparently divergent messages of hope and disappointment conveyed. |
