Komu’s work is rooted in a social commentary on the stark realities facing the world today, and often have strong political overtones. Rooted in his concern for humankind in a fast-developing world, Komu holds up a mirror and a warning to the rampant spread of global capital.
He states: “I believe that my paintings should look back at the viewer rather than just tell a story or hang on the wall.” In light of the unprecedented situation facing the world today, we believe that Komu’s magisterial painting ‘Onlyness’ is a singularly apt focus for our booth. Based in Mumbai, Komu exhibited in the 2007 Venice Biennale, and he has also exhibited in India, USA, England, Germany and Italy.
