Patrick Hall

Patrick Hall studied in London at Chelsea School of Art and in the Central School of Art. Hall’s painting draws on nature, myth and the human story in the individual’s search for survival and meaning.  He works alone in his County Sligo studio and paints canvases and watercolours of flowers, mountains, sea and sky that are peopled with his own history, dreams and aspirations.  Often there is a shoreline with people on it where sea and land and sky meet.  He tries to make a world in pigment and oil that is alive with colour, light and darkness and affects peoples’ thoughts and feelings.  He has exhibited since the 1960 mainly in Ireland, Britain and the USA and his work is in many private collections and most public collections in Ireland, such as IMMA, the Hugh Lane Gallery and Limerick City Gallery.  He is a member of Aosdana.
