Born 1979 in BogotÓ, Colombia

Lives in Astoria, New York



He is a graduate of the ringling school of art and design, Sarasota, FL B.F.A. and received his MFA from the San Francisco art institute, San Francisco, CA with major in painting.

In 2008/2009 his work was shown at Hunterdon Art Museum, Clinton NJ; at Queens International Museum, Queens NY; and he has shown his works in private art gallery in Miami, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sarasota FL, Stanford CA, Milan.

Omar is a winner in many prizes wich: 2008 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, (painting); 2007 Winner of the 10,000 William and Dorothy Yeck Award (Junior Jerry Saltz), Miami University, Oxford OH; 2005 SECA Award Nominee San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco CA; 2004 Tournesol Award and Residency Finalist, Headlands Center for the Arts, Sausalito CA.
