M. F. Husain’s career has spanned seven decades, beginning with his work as part of the Progressive Artist Group and continuing through to recent exhibitions such as ‘Indian Highway’ at the Serpentine Gallery (London) and Astrup Fearnley Gallery (Oslo).
Husain is known for his characteristic use of dark contour lines and his commitment to a figurative tradition that he works with in order to attempt to tray and develop archetypal Indian figures. He avoids oils, working in acrylic, watercolour and on paper in order to attempt to combine a sense of the monumental with a flat two-dimensionality. We are proud to present rare works on paper by Husain at the Aicon booth.
