“In place of a hermeneutics we need an erotics of art.”
What would it look like, the football-dance L/B initiate in Kiev with their
curved lines? A fusion of a roller coaster, a banana, gravitation, and
weightlessness into the fourth dimension. Life itself (just like football
and art, too), in its best moments, no longer knows the separation into form
and content. L/B’s colourful-dynamic surfaces are arenas of action. We first
read them with our eyes, then we plunge into them – a match, a night at
Hotel Everland – retinal schusses down the supra-slope, dynamised patterns
whose vitality neutralises any buddings of nostalgia. Susan Sontag’s feisty
call, long ago, for an erotics: in their art, L/B realise it with a light
and playful hand.
