Kira Wager

Born 1971, Laxå, Sweden

 
Kira Wager works with painterly interpretations of photographies. She is actively compensating the limitations of the photograph with her memory and visual story telling.
 
She has a traditional art school training from The Nordic Shool of Art, Kokkola, Finland and graduated from The National Academy of Fine Arts Oslo in 1998. In 2002 she had a one year scolarship at the at International Studio and Curatorial Program ISCP, New York City.
 
She has had numerous solo shows in Norway and New York City. She participated twice in Carnegie Art Award (2004 and 2006), shown at Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Høvikodden, Konstakademin Stockholm, Listasafn Kopavogs, Reykjavik, Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo, Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Victoria Miro Warehouse, London and Taidehalli, Helsinki.
 
Her work has been purchased in numerous collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Oslo.
