 Born 1961 in Freiburg/Breisgau, Germany
Katharina Grosse is a German artist who has built up a repertoire consisting of large painted canvasses and bright acrylic colors sprayed onto both interior and exterior walls, ceilings and floors since the 1990s. She investigates the limits of painting by constantly exploring alternative support structures and by investigating the transformative nature of the medium. She has exhibited in many museums all over the world; in the last years she took part in museum exhibitions at Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Busan Metropolitan Art Museum, The Renaissance Society, Chicago Busan, South Korea, The Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Waltham Museum of Contemporary Art, Helsinki, Neue-Nationalgalerie, Berlin, UCLA Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, Museion Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Bolzano, Italy, Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati, White Cube, London, and Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston. .
