Cao Fei

Born 1978 in Guangzhou, China
Lives and works in Beijing, China

 


Through photography, video and installation, Cao Fei merges fantasy worlds
with the realities and contradictions of urban life in China. Recently
opened to the public in Second Life, her current and ongoing project, RMB
City, is an experimental utopian world created and sustained in the popular
online platform. Recent exhibitions include, The Generational: Younger Than
Jesus, The New Museum, NY; Cao Fei: RMB City; Serpentine Gallery, London;
Prospect.1 New Orleans, New Orleans, LA; Yokohama Triennale, Japan;
55th Carnegie International; and a solo exhibition at Le Plateau, Paris.
