Ati Maier

Born 1962 in Munich, Germany

Ati Maier’s works on paper comprise a montage of fantastical and
seemingly familiar imagery-hyper-saturated chromatic visions-which
initially appear abstract, before coming into focus as a surfeit of
activity occupying multiple dimensions simultaneously. These impossible
images are married by Maier’s deft handling of her medium.

In one panel of "The Other" (2003) a fiery red and yellow molten sphere 0D
blasts through horizontally, trailing pink, green and blue streamers,
while a steaming landscape silhouetted against a red horizon floats
above, amid a dazzling field of imagery.

Maier was born in Munich, Germany, studied visual art in New York and,
later, Vienna, and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
Though her work has been exhibited widely in Europe, this will be her
first one-person exhibition in New York.
