 Based in Berlin
Artists Anonymous is an international group of Artists who investigate the fabric of artistic methodology and society. Since their foundation in 2001 they have explored through different media, from painting, photography, film, video, sound, sculpture, performance, installation and text the nature of reality behind these definitions. Time-honoured traditions of artistic elitism, such as the academia of figuration and the intellectualism of abstraction, are juxtaposed with their modern day antitheses, such as base porn images and ironic symbols of pop culture, to highlight core human preoccupations with death, destruction, disease, prejudice and altered states.
Since their emergence in 2001 Artists Anonymous have enjoyed significant critical success. Their work has been championed by well regarded pioneers of the contemporary art world, such as the Contemporary Art Society in the UK, the Deutsche Bank Collection, the Rubell Family Collection and the London based Saatchi Collection. Recently they have enjoyed grand-scale solo exhibitions at the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin and the Liverpool Biennale.
