Born 1957 in Trad, Thailand


Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook is Thailand’s foremost female artist whose outstanding works often involve female sexuality and identity lies behind the images of death and lament. 

 

Received MFA from Silpakorn University, Thailand, Araya has exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions, including ( Solo) Great Times Message: Storytellers of the Town and In a blur of Desire at 100 Tonson Gallery, Bangkok (2006-2007),  Lament at Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm (2003), and, upcoming show "The Quick and the Dead: Rites of Passage in Art, Spirit and Life",  Sydney, Australia ( 2009), Wind from the East- Perspectives on Asian Contemporary Art at the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki, Finland (2007), ZKM: Thermocline of Art. Asian New Waves at ZKM, Germany (2007); Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju, Korea, Taipei Biennale, Taipei, Taiwan (2006); 51st Venice Biennale, Thai Pavilion, Venice, Italy (2005).
