Anton Henning

Born 1964 in Berlin, Germany

Anton Henning is a German artist who takes on art history by blurring the boundaries of its traditional styles and genres. Henning appropriates the stylistic motifs of others and reconstitutes them into his own using his signature style.
 
Henning has exhibited extensively all over the world. The retrospective "Antonym, works from 1990-2009", opened at the Kunsthalle Mannheim and the Wilhelm-Hack Museum in May 2009 and will be on exhibition until August 2009. He has had major solo museum shows at the Gemeente Museum, Den Haag, Netherlands and at ARP Museum in Germany; 31 Apotheotische Antiphrasen für Haus Esters, Museum Haus Esters, Krefeld, Germany, Oktogon für Herford, MARTa Herford, Herford, Germany, Frankfurter Salon, Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt, Germany, Ziemlich schöne Malereien, Kunstmuseum of Art Luzern, Lucerne, Switzerland, and Surpassing Surplus, De Pont Foundation, Tilburg, Netherlands.
