VOLTA: Alicia Jimenez

Alicia Jiménez is a visual artist who works in the field of installation. Combines the creation of interventions and design teaching strategies to promote creativity and dialogue. It is in Fine Arts in the UPV (Bilbao) to do a doctorate at the University of Granada, where he did doctoral thesis about the Creative Process. He specializes in Video and Digital Art in the UPF (Barcelona).

His work explores the limits of reality and its fissures, understanding artistic practice as a form of knowledge, questioning, reflection and relationship with the living environment, social and cultural from the everyday. Recently has been awarded "Young Lab Experience in Laboral Center for Art and Industrial Creation (Gijón). His work, since 2001, has been exhibited in various parts of Spanish territory, and in Portugal, France and Belgium.

Besides curating projects being undertaken within the group "Dos Clavos" in collaboration with Pensart (Madrid) and coordinates the artistic project of El hervidero (Gijón), representing the association at national meetings of self-managed and international art spaces, like “Goings On” in Beirut (organized by Werk & 98weeks).
