Desiree Holman

Born 1974 in Montgomery, Alabama, USA

 

I am an interdisciplinary visual artist. I work with various mediums including sculpture, photography, video, drawing and installation. I typically make (or appropriate) figurative sculptures, which I then capture with the use of motion and still cameras. I have always been enlivened by fantasy play as a means of discovery. The common denominator throughout my work is the creation of fictions through play with and animation of figurative representations. I (and the others with whom I work) play with ‘effigies’ and animation is a result of that playing. – Desiree Holman
