Chuck Webster’s drawings on unique selections of antique paper create spontaneous dialogues between each other while simultaneously existing as autonomous entities. Webster refines his vocabulary of color combinations and biomorphic forms in colored pencil, ink, and watercolor, creating sequences of exuberant abstractions. Each dynamic jewel evinces a sophisticated practice that exhibits a compulsion and pleasure. These immediate works balance his other practice of highly finished, labor-intensive oil paintings.
