Transit Art Space opened 2005 in a former warehouse in Stavanger Harbour. Einar Børresen, director and co-owner is an art historian and former director of Rogaland Museum of Fine Art, Norway.

The gallery focuses on both international group shows and solo shows with emerging artists. Former shows include Danish Dreams (Lise Blomberg, Trine Boesen, Christina Malbek, Julie Nord), Revolution (ten artists from Russia and Ukraine, including AES, Blue Noses, Alexej Kallima), Salong Berlin (young Berlin-based painters), Au Nord du Nord (artists from Northern France), and recently a group show with artists based in Stockholm. Solo shows include Håkon Gullvåg (N), Morten Slettemeås (N),Aino Kannisto (FI), Christina Malbek (DK). Upcoming shows include Harald Fenn (N), Elke Krystufek (AU), Bernie Searle (SA), Marit Victoria Wulff Andreassen (N).

The gallery is now in the process of strengthening its position as an international promoter of young Nordic artists.
