Monya Rowe Gallery

Presents: Rebeca Raney

Monya Rowe was established in 2003 in a small warehouse building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. In order to expand the exhibition space, after eight months in Brooklyn, the gallery relocated to Chelsea. Monya Rowe focuses on introducing young artists working in all mediums - often giving them their first solo exhibition - who are making significant and unique contributions to contemporary art by offering an important political and social discourse. The gallery is dedicated to fostering and building the careers of emerging artists both nationally and internationally. Angela Dufresne’s paintings have recently been exhibited at PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York and The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; upcoming group exhibitions include Saatchi Gallery’s “Triumph of Painting” and The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Connecticut. Larissa Bates’ large scale paintings were recently included in group exhibitions at The Ulrich Museum of Art, Kansas and The Mobile Museum of Art, Alabama; Abigail Lazkoz recently exhibited a solo exhibition at Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (MUSAC), Leon, Spain and is the 2006 recipient of the prestigious prize “Gure Artea” awarded by the Basque government. Other recent successful solo exhibitions at Monya Rowe include: Kevin Christy, Vera Iliatova and Mark Schubert.
