Melissa Bent and Mirabelle Marden met their first year at Sarah Lawrence College.
They opened Rivington Arms in 2002 in a storefront on Rivington Street on the Lower East Side of New York City. The gallery began as a venue for current artists who were their contemporaries. They exhibit all mediums and have collaborated on curating shows with artists and other galleries. Their represented artist's work has been exhibited internationally through art fairs, museum shows and private collections.
They moved to their current location on 2nd Street in April 2006.
